[November 2007]
President Kazuo Takamoto won the Medal with Yellow Ribbon at the Autumn ceremony, 2007. Awarded by Cabinet Office, Government of Japan.

The medal of honor was given to President Kazuo Takamoto for his dedication to brush making and for becoming such an influential figure in the industry.
We are deeply honored for this prestigious award and thank all those who have supported us.

Business category:
Brush making industry
The how and why Kazuo Takamoto won this award:

He started his career in 1969 working in the family brush making business and went on to found Hakuhodo in 1974.
By making the most of traditional brush making techniques, he has developed innovative and the finest quality makeup brushes.
Using his inventiveness he has achieved mass production, which has enabled him to compete so successfully in the global market for makeup brushes.

Furthermore, his desire is that traditional brushes be used as a handy tool.
With that in mind he is fully committed to handing down the traditional brush making techniques to the next generation and to supply the brushes to create new fields such as those used for traditional lacquer ware, china and porcelain workshops or leading animation companies.
He also supplies industrial brushes, used to clean cutting edge semiconductors and those used in automobile manufacturing.

Ultimately he has made a huge contribution to restoring a decaying local industry in Kumano by creating new job opportunities, establishing Kumano brand brushes
as well as handing down traditional brush making techniques.

Comment from President Kazuo Takamoto:

We are still only half way to creating perfect makeup brushes. By trial and error we will continue to develop our brushes and revive traditional brushes.

This honorable award, the Medal with Yellow Ribbon, is presented twice a year, on April 29 and November 3.
